I Scream Factory

A project by Alexandra Plesner

IScream Factory was founded 4years ago by Alexandra Plesner during her studies at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. The project stems from her family’s links to the world of frozen delicacies, with them founding a small ice cream business back in 1879, which is now run by her brother under the name Udo’s Eisparadies in Tirol, Austria.

The name of the collective derives from a seminal scene in Jim Jarmusch’s 1986 film Down by Law, I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.

Alexandra Plesner collaborates with Leanne Manfredi, Project Manager and Tomi Lähdesmäki as art director on this non-profit collaborative endeavor that features an array of work across fashion, photography, film and fine art.

Contributors respond to the simple brief: Life is like ice cream, eat it before it melts. One lick at a time.

Alexandra about the project: Ice cream is not just the frozen confection that has infused its own culinary history with an enduring dash of romance; it is also a striking metaphor for life’s fragility. There is a correlation between those innocent memories with ice cream, of carefree moments, liberation, expression, and a level of comfort that people from all sorts of walks of life can relate to, that of simply ›being.‹ The new identity truly shows the underlying idea of the project.

Showcased here are images by the international artists that regularly contribute to the project: Tomi Lähdesmäki (Finland), Nadia Sarwar (UK), Irina Gavrich (Austria), Lena Vazhenina (Russia), Chloe Tun Tun (Switzerland), Takeshi Suga (Japan), Sara Mautone (Italy), Ting Cheng (Taiwan), Anastasia Zesenkova (UK) and Aitor Santomé (Spain).
